Joel 2:11 “And the Lord shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?”
The subject that I am going to address is one that is probably very familiar to everyone reading this, but it is what the Lord had given me to write about – the Lord’s complete control. I first read this verse about a year ago, and I have to be honest, God’s sovereign plan was the last thing that came to mind. But as I studied it, there was only one thing that it could be talking about. You see this army spoken of is an army of destruction that is coming to the people of Israel, God’s chosen people. Joel is telling us that this is God’s army, and He is in control of everything that happens, even the destruction. The people of Israel had endured massive destruction already, and now it is only getting worse. So where do we come in? Well how many times do we question why God does something? When trials and hard times come, I know the first thing that I think about is NOT God’s complete control, but how sad… We serve a God who continually has our best interests in mind and we still question Him. Whether it is destruction in our lives or great joy, God is always in complete control. May we always remember and take comfort in this marvelous truth.
