“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11
Today we live in a world of instant communication. In a matter of moments, a truth or a lie can reach the multitudes. God chose to send the message of the birth of His Son by an angel. The exact words are quoted above. They were delivered to a few shepherds on the Judean hillside. The night was quiet and dark. Then everything changed. The world has never been the same.
It has been over six thousand years since the angel spoke and told them of the time and place of the event. Truly it changed history. The long promised Savior had come. All OT prophecies were being fulfilled as promised in the little city of Bethlehem. In a matter of years, John would see Him coming and report “Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.”
I wonder if each one of us that is saved would allow the wonder of that night to thrill our hearts again? They said in verse 10 the message was to all people. Perhaps you are reading this as an unsaved person. Think of the message “a Savior was being born” that very night. He was a gift to all mankind.
Why not receive Christ as your Savior today? Acts 4:12, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
