Which Way?

Read Job 23:8-10 above…

Of all the characters in Scripture that went through various trials Job is one of the most well-known. At one point in his life Job was trying to see where God was but was not able to grasp hold of anything! He knew that God was around and working, but he could not see it! It is easy for us to “lose” track of where God is and what He is doing because His ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8). We see this especially when dealing with trials in life!

We must remember that we are finite and naturally disobedient to God. Our sin nature does not want to follow God and see what He is doing. Our basic sinful nature desires to go through life as it desires to and not as God desires! Because of that fact it makes it very easy to step off the path God has laid for us and make our own…we turn away from Him with just one step and it becomes easy to form unGodly habits!

What we must remember is we are limited in many ways as man and one of those ways is foresight. We cannot see what is going to happen down the road…sometimes we may have a pretty good idea, but that is all it is…an idea! Why spend the time trying to search out God all around you…know this “he knoweth the way that I take” and be satisfied to know that even though it may not be perfectly clear where God is or what He is doing, He is in control and in the end we will be more refined if we but continue to follow! May we be able to stand and say along with Job: “My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.” (Job 23:11-12)

Conclusion…where is God, what is He doing, why is He doing it? The answers He has provided already in His Word…trust Him! Make His will yours! May God be glorfied!
