Women Teaching Younger Women

Titus 2:3-5, “The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;   That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”

Women have similar qualification as men do with some of the areas particularly designed for women.

“Behavior as becometh holiness.” The women were to live a life that was spiritual not secular and sacred not profane.  “Not false accusers.” Speech should not be filled with slander and gossip, but biblically be accurate and edifying.  “Not given to much wine.” They are not to be controlled by substances but by the Spirit of God.  “Teachers of good things That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Ladies were especially called to teach younger women. They should not be giving opinions, experiences, how to manipulate or control their husbands and children in any manner contrary to the Bible.  The content they were to teach the young women was to be, “sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”

One big area of responsibility is to love.  Love biblically is giving to meet the need of the object. John 3:16 is our Example.  Women can be equal spiritually and mentally to their husbands.  Neither is better than the other.  God designed men to be the example leader and their wives to be the examples in following God’s planned leadership and headship.  God gave the man the responsibility to be the exemplary leader and God has given the woman to the man to be his helpmeet.  She respects this position that God has given her with her husband and she supports his following the Lord.  Just as he gives to meet her needs in expressing his love to her so she needs to do the same by giving to meet his needs and so express her love for him.

God is able to give the greatest unity when both are committed to following His plan.  Psalm 133:1, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
