Forgiveness

Forgiveness seems like such a simple thing . . . but is it?  When we have been hurt deeply, it is sometimes hard to move on.  I think the forgiving comes much easier than the forgetting.  “The only thing we can be thankful for when it comes to blowing it is that nobody keeps a record.  Or do they?  Or do you with others?”  (Encourage Me, p. 67).  Ephesians 4:32 reminds us of our biblical responsibility

“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

Well, that puts a whole new “light” on it.  We are to forgive as Christ forgave us – I have a hard time believing Christ remembers what we have asked forgiveness for, and I know He does not bring it up to us again.  May we be Christ-like in our thinking when it comes to forgiveness.  Lord, help us be ready to forgive AND forget!
