Having security is extremely important for many women with whom we minister. It is significantly important to be secure as well as feel secure. The bottom line is that our security must be found in Christ. We often enjoy feeling secure in our relationships with our spouses, loved ones, employment, socially, politically, etc. However, our security can only be truly right when we are rightly intimately related to Christ. He alone can give us security in every area of life.
Women often feel vulnerable because of being the physically weaker vessel. We do not need to be intellectually or spiritually weaker than men. Many times women are made to think that they are pathetic for feeling insecure. The truth is that we are weak, and we need to seek God’s solution to this vulnerability.
It is significant that the Lord said, “Come into the Ark,” not “Go” (Genesis 7:1). God would be in the Ark with them, and although the Flood would soon be unleashed in devastating fury, they were all safe with Him.
Some of us want to trust in what we have for security and surround ourselves with the many benefits of modern society. Women in the Bible had the tendency to do the same. God pronounces judgment upon those who do. One example among the many in the Bible is found in Isaiah 31:1, “Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD! ” Homes, clothing, cars, computer gadgets, etc. will not satisfy. Our affections need to be set upon the Lord Jesus Christ and His ability to give us what we need for His glory and our good.
“ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1
