“AND GOD SAID”

Gen 1:1, In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. He laid out the valleys and established the boundaries. I find it interesting that in chapter one we are told that God spoke, saw, made, called, set, created, and blessed. All of this and more was His perfect creation. Read this wonderful chapter today.

Nine times in Genesis 1, the words, “And God said” are used. You can be sure that what He said happened. Let’s look at verse fourteen for our thoughts today. Here God said there was to be light, night and day, seasons, days, and years. No one can deny the reality of that verse as we live and experience all of the above. God does nothing without purpose. I want to focus on the word “seasons.”

The wonderful autumn season (fall) has just arrived. You and I are preparing with heavier clothes, leaf raking, and many other things. My favorite fall memory of my days in Pennsylvania was the Creator-provided beauty of the hillside. The deep red and yellow colors were wonderful to behold. We knew fall was here.

But I behold something else going on in my yard these days. The squirrels are preparing for the next season. My question to the skeptic, agnostic, atheist, and all other doubters is, “Who told them to get ready?” It was God the Creator. He has equipped all His creation to survive. The squirrel is preparing for winter. The mountain bear eats and eats so he has a personal food supply for winter. “And God said,” and it was so. The animals know when to make ready for new seasons.

Today only the finite mind of man challenges the infinite mind of God. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him: male and female created He them.” Have you ever thought how life would be if those that were created most like God would act more like God?
