“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Philippians 4:8).
In a book I began reading the other day, the author was emphasizing this verse. It is such a needed reminder for any of us in the distraction filled world in which we live. The list of what we SHOULD be spending our precious moments thinking about. We are to think on the:
When I really think about my day, these are honestly not the only things that I think about. We see and hear a lot of “stuff.” Distractions. Things that will not draw us closer to God but away. We must filter them, and only give time to the things that are good–things that pass God’s qualifications.
God wants us to be victorious and live with a peace inside us that others will see and desire, but we must focus our thoughts. It seems our Creator knew us before we were formed and knew how these days would be, long before this “busy” time came. This verse is a reminder to daily submit to Him to bring our thoughts where they need to be.
