I remember as a very small child, I would often be climbing in trees – usually trees too big for a five year old!
As it happened, one day I found myself quite stuck in the yoke of a large maple on the farm. Much as I tried, I could not free myself from my trap … my death trap, I was sure!
I remember crying in fright and calling on my dad to save me. In a few minutes, Dad was present having heard my cries.
After reviewing my problem, Dad told me to close my eyes and let go! He assured me he could and would catch me. With some coaxing, I finally closed my eyes and let go. I was so delighted he had caught me, safe in his arms!
How very much this often reminds me of our Heavenly Father calling us to trust in Him. We are to pour our hearts before Him. We are to trust and believe His Word as He has stated, He is a refuge for us!
Today, more than ever, we need to remember He is in control. Trust in Him at all times, pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge! (Psalm 62:8)
