If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
If another needs, should we not give? If another wants, should we not give? If another takes, should we not give? What are we willing to do for the sake of living at peace with ALL men? Are we willing to part with the shirt off our back? Are we willing to spend time? Are we willing to give attention? Are we willing to give ALL that we have for the sake of peaceful living? …even our physical life?
Some, if not all, of us probably have trouble with one or more of those questions above.
“But, it’s mine! I earned it!”
“Why should they have it? They have no need for it!”
“That wouldn’t be fair!”
“If he needs it…sure, but wants? That’s a different story!”
Any of these resonate with similar thoughts rolling through?
Who truly owns ALL? (Genesis 1)
Who gave it in the first place? Who has the right to take it away? (Job 1:21b)
Does God have a purpose in all that exists and takes place? (Ephesians 1:11b)
We are brought close by the blood of Jesus Christ who became our peace. (Ephesians 2:11-18)
Jesus Christ gave all, even physical life, to become that peace. (Philippians 2:5-11)
What are you willing to give for the sake of peace with all men? Are you willing to give all “control” over to God? (Romans 12:1-2) Are you willing to say with Paul, “I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content”? (Philippians 4:11)
Let us trust God fully and completely! He knows what He is doing! If it is time to learn how it is to have absolutely nothing, but skin and bones, so be it! If it is time to live lavishly and abundantly, so be it! We have but one purpose! To glorify God in all! We are NOT in control! It is not our job! It is His! And He is good at it!
How peaceful would our lives be if we only had to obey what we are told to do?
To God be the glory!
